About Your Coverage

Understanding what’s protected.

What exactly do my AVP programs cover?
Every AVP contract lists the specific damage types, surfaces and exclusions that apply to your vehicle. Generally, Exterior Appearance covers paint and chrome against environmental damage; Interior covers spills, stains and minor rips; Windshield covers chips and qualifying cracks; Dent covers non-creased dings; Tire & Wheel covers road-hazard damage; Key covers lost or damaged remotes; and Theft provides a guaranteed replacement benefit. Refer to your signed agreement for the exact terms.
How is AVP different from my auto insurance?
AVP is appearance and damage protection — not auto insurance. Our coverage handles the everyday damage most insurance policies exclude (bird droppings, curb rash, interior stains, key replacement) or treat as a separate deductible claim. For covered damage, AVP pays the repair facility directly with no deductible.
How often should I wash my vehicle to maintain the appearance coating?
We recommend washing every 2–4 weeks with a pH-neutral soap. Automatic (touchless) car washes are acceptable. Avoid abrasive brush washes and solvent-based cleaners on protected surfaces. You can wax or polish over the coating without voiding protection.
Is AVP coverage transferable if I sell my vehicle?
Yes — AVP contracts are fully transferable to a subsequent private-party buyer one time within the contract term. Contact our customer service team to initiate the transfer. There is no transfer fee on most programs.
What’s not covered?
Exclusions vary by program but generally include: collision damage (covered by auto insurance), pre-existing damage, commercial-use abuse, manufacturer defects (covered by your factory warranty), and damage intentionally caused. Your contract lists every exclusion — we encourage you to read it carefully.
Filing a Claim

The process, demystified.

What information do I need to file a claim?
Your VIN, the name of the selling dealership, the purchase date, a description of the damage and when you first noticed it. Contract number is helpful but not required — we can look up your record by VIN.
How long does a claim take to process?
Most claims are reviewed and authorized within one business day. From initial submission to completed repair, the typical turnaround is 3–7 business days depending on parts availability and your scheduling preferences.
Is there a deadline to file?
Yes. File within 30 days of discovering the damage. Claims filed outside that window may still be eligible, but processing takes longer and some documentation may be required. For ongoing or worsening damage, we document the date you first noticed the issue.
Can my dealer file a claim on my behalf?
Absolutely. Selling dealerships and their F&I staff regularly file on behalf of customers. They can use the same online form — the "person submitting the claim" field captures who’s filing, and we’ll coordinate directly with both the dealer and the customer.
Do I have to pay out of pocket and get reimbursed?
No. AVP pays approved repair facilities directly for covered damage. There is no reimbursement form and no deductible on covered claims.
Warranty Administration

Contracts, cancellations, corrections.

Can I cancel my AVP contract?
Yes. Most AVP contracts include a full-refund cancellation window (typically 30 days from purchase) and a pro-rated refund thereafter. Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing through the selling dealership or directly to our administration team.
What if my contract information is incorrect?
Contact our customer service team with the contract number and the corrections needed. We’ll issue an updated agreement and — where required — coordinate with the selling dealership to re-execute.
Do I need to have the vehicle inspected annually?
No. Your AVP coverage does not require annual inspections to remain in force. Simply follow the care recommendations on your product documentation.
What if I financed the vehicle and it’s totaled?
A total-loss claim cancels your AVP contract as of the date of loss. Any unearned premium is refunded pro-rata to your lienholder (or to you if the vehicle is paid off). Our Theft program pays a separate guaranteed benefit on unrecovered stolen vehicles — see your Theft agreement for details.
